Stripe payment guide

Bring your existing Stripe account to your bakery shop

Already use Stripe for invoices, wholesale, or another part of the business? Confita can connect an eligible existing Stripe Standard account. Customer card payments become direct charges on that connected account, while Confita keeps the bakery order, deposit, and payment status together. Confita adds no application fee.

The existing-account path

Choose the existing Stripe option in Confita, sign in on Stripe’s site, and authorize the connection. An eligible Standard account keeps its full Stripe Dashboard. Direct bakery-order charges appear on that connected account and increase its balance.

Not every account can be attached. Stripe says accounts controlled by another platform cannot always grant the read-and-write OAuth access an app needs. That is why the accurate promise is “connect an eligible existing Standard account,” not “bring any Stripe account.”

Choose a fresh Express setup or an eligible account you already use

Confita keeps both Stripe paths visible in Contact & payments. Start Stripe Express when the bakery needs a new processor account, or choose the existing-account path when you already manage an eligible Standard account.

  • Stripe hosts both onboarding paths.
  • Existing accounts must be eligible for OAuth connection.
  • Confita adds no application fee to direct charges.

Direct charges keep the payment on your account

Confita creates the payment for the connected Stripe account, not as a sale that first lands in a Confita balance. Stripe processes the card, the charge belongs to the connected account, and Stripe’s applicable processing fees come from that account.

Confita does not add an application fee. It stores provider references and receives signed payment-status events so it can mark the correct bakery order paid or refunded. It never holds the funds or receives raw card details.

The published fee is a starting point

Stripe lists 2.9% + $0.30 for a successful domestic online-card transaction on standard US pricing at the time of this review. A $100 payment would carry a $3.20 fee at that rate.

International cards, currency conversion, other payment methods, country pricing, and custom contracts can change the result. Check your Stripe pricing and reports before building the fee into a cake deposit or minimum order.

When Stripe is the better fit

Stripe makes sense when the business already uses its dashboard, when online card payments are more important than in-person reader sales, or when you want to start with a connected Express account. Square makes sense when the reader and location structure already organize your market or retail business.

You can connect both in Confita and choose which one is active for customer card checkout. The order form and products do not have to change when the active processor changes.

Connect Stripe without rebuilding your shop

Set up the products and order questions first. Connect an eligible Standard account or create Express when you are ready to test checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect a Stripe account I already have?

Yes, if it is an eligible Stripe Standard account that can grant the required OAuth access. Accounts controlled by another platform may not be eligible. Confita also offers a Stripe Express onboarding path for a new connected account.

Does Confita take an application fee from Stripe charges?

No. Confita adds no application fee and no percentage platform fee. Stripe’s applicable processing and account-specific fees still apply.

Where does a Stripe payment appear?

Confita uses direct charges, so the payment belongs to the connected Stripe account and appears in that account’s balance and Stripe reporting. Confita keeps the related bakery order and payment status.

Can customers pay without a Stripe account?

Yes. The bakery connects Stripe. The customer opens Stripe-hosted Checkout and pays using the methods available for that checkout without creating a Stripe seller account.
